Building Global Learning and Development Bench Strength
Launching Digital Learning Across Network
Background:
FINCA Impact Finance is a microfinance organization operating in twenty-one countries within four regions: Africa, Eurasia, LAC and MESA.
Project Background:
Matthew was contracted to support the development of the ‘FINCA Development Academy’ with clear goals to establish and develop a network of ‘leaders of learning’ across the network that would drive training strategy.
Engage’s Contribution:
A review of the current resources and capacity highlighted the need to prioritize two key areas. 1) Leadership and Management development, and 2) the capacity of the learning and development teams to develop strategically focused training that had impact.
A competency matrix for the learning and development team with training interventions designed around the key focus areas, including:
• Instructional Design and Facilitation Skills
• Coaching and development
• Digital learning – ecourse and virtual production skills.
These were delivered at annual head of training meetings (classroom) and digitally using virtual and ecourses.
A full fleet of middle management learning journeys were developed that focused on leadership skills, business performance, and customer experience. These were blended approaches allowing subsidiaries to deliver in formats that met their business need.
Outcomes:
During the period of the contract Matthew engaged and inspired the training function, developing a global network building capacity in instructional design, facilitation and digital elearning. Launching a new LMS platform across the network and driving digital learning hours form 2% to over 36% within two years. Allowing subsidiaries to increase training hours per employee without increasing budget.
Management pipeline improved across the network with increased results in internal climate survey.
